More about my palette

In the first of a series of paintings about my technique, I talked about using a minimal palette. Today’s topic is also about color.

Regardless of how many colors I use, I incorporate each throughout the painting. For example, I’ll take blues from the sky and use them to mix greens for the grass, as you see in In the Spring, below. Or, I’ll include small dabs of blue in other elements of the painting, even if the object does not appear blue.  This helps create a cohesive painting.

Here’s another example. In Darcy, below, you can see bits of the green color from the background in the white on her face.
