I visited the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden on Mt. Dessert Island last August when everything was in bloom. Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and her husband, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., built the garden in the 1920s. Landscape artist Beatrix Farrand designed it, blending Eastern and Western landscape traditions. In addition to hundreds of flowering plants, the garden houses tiles, walls and other artifacts from China. If you love gardens, this is one to see. Birch with Pink Flowers represents a quiet little corner of the garden.
