Sand Beach is one of the iconic images from Acadia. It’s nestled in a cove surrounded by rocks, and the sand is really tiny bits of shell fragments. Only the bravest and hardiest visitors venture into the water, which rarely warms to more than 55 degrees and averages about a half cup of salt per gallon of water. Depending on the day, the water really does look this green and tropical.
