Material decision
You may have noticed I paint mostly on unframed wrapped canvas. When I made the transition to using a palette knife, I began painting on heavier canvases. Unlike many artists who also use wrapped canvases, I paint my edges to coordinate with the painting.
I feel the wrapped canvas look is clean, contemporary and unfussy. It’s all about the painting, not the frame. Wrapped canvases also give collectors the option to frame the painting to match their decor, if they so desire. Furthermore, buyers do not have to pay for a frame they may not like.
